Edinboro University maintains initiatives and services that assist different populations and groups of people in order to create a safe, supportive educational environment. These organizations, services and commissions support students, faculty and staff members from many various walks of life with all of the issues, problems and difficulties they may face.

The Office of Social Equity strongly supports psychological research that has found that exclusion and ostracism are damaging and negatively impact personal development. Our students, faculty and staff must feel acceptance and belonging within this community to achieve excellence and develop in a positive and meaningful way. To that end, the University has created various initiatives following the "Inclusive Excellence Framework" (IEF) model.

When our students, faculty and staff feel accepted and a sense of belonging, performance increases in classes, work, extra-curricular activities, involvement, and relationship management.

Edinboro University has implemented the IEF model of action and programs, establishing clear plans and goals for EU. The goal of the IEF is to achieve diversity in all areas of the University and to provide support for all races, cultures, genders, sexual orientations, affiliations, beliefs, and areas of difference. In addition to the organizations that exist on-campus, the University Initiatives provide structure to efforts that integrate diversity and fulfill the IEF.

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion seeks to identify and eliminate barriers to an equitable and diverse environment. Our goal is for all students, faculty and staff to develop understanding and foster awareness of different cultures, languages and peoples.
